The Rotary Club of Campbell is pleased to announce the 2018 George F. Miskulin Memorial Scholarship. This annual award is named in honor of former Rotary member George Miskulin, principal of Del Mar High School from its opening in 1959 until 1972.

The $1,000 scholarship named in his honor is awarded annually to students from our club’s service area who have shown dedication to making their schools and community a better place through volunteerism.

  1. Applicants must have attended high school in Campbell or West San José, generally within the following postal codes: 95008, 95117, 95118, 95124, 95125, 95126, 95128, 95129, and 95130.
  2. Applicants must be graduating seniors in good standing with their schools OR attending a local community college and planning to transfer to a four-year college or university for 2018-2019.
  3. Active membership in a Rotary Interact Club is preferred but not required.
  4. All scholarship funds must be used on education-related expenses.


To be considered for this scholarship, applicants must complete the following steps no later than 11:59pm on Monday, April 16, 2018 (deadline extended):

  1. Complete an online application and essay;
  2. Submit at least one and no more than three (3) letters of recommendation; and
  3. Provide a current report card or transcript AND list of extracurricular and/or volunteer activities.


A Scholarships Subcommittee, appointed by the Campbell Rotary Board of Directors, will review all applications and rank them according to the following point system:

  • Application Essay (20 points)
  • Scholastic Achievement (10 points)
  • Volunteerism (10 points)
  • Letters of Recommendation (10 points)
  • Interact Membership (5 bonus points)

Based on the final ranking, the Scholarships Subcommittee may choose up to two (2) students to receive a scholarship, provided that each of these students receives more than 40 total points.


Scholarship recipients and other applicants will be notified of the Subcommittee’s decision no later than Friday, April 27, 2018. Funds will be dispersed immediately following this notification and no later than May 1, 2018.

Recipients will be recognized at a meeting of the Campbell Rotary and also via:

  • A dedicated page on the Campbell Rotary website;
  • An announcement in a Campbell Rotary e-newsletter and media release; and
  • A stage announcement at Campbell Rotary’s Orchard City Chili Cookoff on May 28, 2018.

Campbell Rotary will maintain a list of all recipients on their website and in promotional materials.
