CAMPBELL-SAN JOSE WEST ROTARY? APRIL 29, 2008 District Assembly may have something for you. District Governor-elect Gary Citti and the 2008-09 Leadership Team have announced an “all-star” training and orientation seminar for all incoming club officers, directors, committee chairs and everyone interested in strengthening their club. The District Assembly is one of the most valuable District activities that benefits clubs. It’s an opportunity to see and hear how others do “Rotary,” get updated on “happenings” for 2008-09 and enjoy the fellowship of fellow Rotarians. One workshop will specialize on fundraising techniques that can help us raise BIG MONEY for our club’s activities and charities. Others will highlight membership recruitment and retention. All committee chairs for ? next year are encouraged to attend. Registration is by Club, so see Jerry Cummings or John Shannon today. Do You Believe in Karma? ? After years of struggling over just what to do about a previous pledge to the Campbell Heritage Theater, last week, our Board of Directors voted to honor our pledge and send CHT the balance due on our $15,000 pledge. The very next week, Treasurer Phil received not one, but two notices from a local bank indicating that they have two bank accounts belonging to us. The total involved will more that take care of our pledge payment! ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• Boogie on the Bayou 2008 It’s coming right around the corner … Campbell’s Boogie on the Bayou is Saturday-Sunday, May 17-18, 2008. Sue Klear on Metro’s Front Page

It’s not actually her picture, but Dr. Sue Klear’s “Brain Music Therapy” appears on the cover of this week’s Metro newspaper:

I’M RELAXING in a chair upstairs inside Suite 11 of the historic Kiely House in Santa Clara, a Queen Anne Victorian dating back to the 19th century. Dr. Sue Klear, a licensed psychologist specializing in neurofeedback, has just attached seven sensors to my head and face with an odorless skin-prepping gel to prepare me for the initial stages of Brain Music Therapy, an experimental treatment for insomnia, anxiety, depression and stress.

The treatment records an individual’s brain waves using an Electroencephalogram (EEG), analyzes them and then converts them into two piano tracks—one “relaxing file” and one “activating file.” These are eventually burned onto a CD for the patient to play while going to sleep and after waking up, the idea being that the musical sounds form a correlation to your specific brain waves in order to help eliminate imbalanced brain activity. So, theoretically, you end up sleeping much better and function more productively during the day.

Read the full story about Brain Music Therapy on Metro’s website.

If you’ve got the paper edition in your hand, the story starts on Page 26, and Sue’s picture appears a few pages later. She’s also pictured online attaching sensors to the reporter’s head … undoubtedly brainwashing him to portray Rotary in a positive light … 😉

Wait a minute … does the article mention Rotary?
