Era of Lost Images …

For today’s program, we welcomed Patrick Works, a member of the Watsonville Rotary Club and the owner of Watsonville Photo. He shared his passion for photographic images and spoke firmly about his commitment to making excellent photographic prints.

In this “era of lost images,” where people can easily delete or misplace digital images, Patrick wants to inspire everyone to preserve pictures in print form. He repeatedly referred to quality photographic prints as the the best archival method available today.

When in Watsonville, consider letting Patrick print your pictures on his big, expensive machine. If you’re not able to make the trip, he suggested you visit, where you can find a local photo lab.

Ground Breaking in Turkey

In late March, the Rotary Club of Istanbul-Topkapi (Turkey) officially broke ground on the municipal water system, co-sponsored by RotaryCSJw and funded by The Rotary Foundation. The Rotary Club of Campbell & San Jose West has partnered with several Rotary clubs in District 2420 to install the system in the countryside near Istanbul.

They’ve recently provided us with a few pictures of the festivities. Keep in mind that Cecelia Babkirk will be leading a delegation to Turkey in July to view the completed project and to meet more of our Rotary partners.

Club Leadership Plan

Club Leadership PlanAs part of today’s “Club Assembly,” we discussed recent Rotary International efforts to help clubs improve their own infrastructure and leadership process. Specifically, copies of RI’s Club Leadership Plan were distributed and discussed.

The RotaryCSJw Membership Survey is also available online (in PDF).

If you are looking for additional information, the plan itself (Publication 245-EN, in PDF), along with recommended policies, implementation worksheets, and a planning guide are all available from RI’s Club Leadership Plan resource page.

Living Green Lifestyle

Today we heard from Ed Shaw, a wellness home consultant, who discussed the significant positive impact that good sleep can make on your health and lifestyle. He presented information from his “Bible”: The Promise of Sleep, by William C. Dement. Shaw discussed the “sleep cycle,” and the changes in sleep habits of Americans over the last 50 years.

He also went on to discuss the importance of drinking lots of fresh, healthy water every day. He especially encouraged us to drink water frquently throughout the day and at bedtime.
